Today has been a historic day for our nation.
Scott Morrison has conceded the end of his Prime Ministership.
Labor is on the cusp of something incredible and historic - winning Government from Opposition for just the fourth time since World War II.
My dear friend @michelleforhiggins is well on track to become the first Labor Member for Higgins.
When I asked Michelle to run for Higgins, I saw in her a powerhouse and a woman of integrity who is on track to win us a seat we’ve never won.
I’m bloody proud of Michelle and I’m so bloody proud to be a member of the Labor Party - the party that took Scott Morrison down across the country, that flipped Liberal seats to Labor and that is poised to make my friend Anthony Albanese the next Prime Minister of Australia.
Labor will get moving on climate action. We’ll get moving on lowering cost of living. We’ll get moving on cheaper childcare and fixing aged care.
This will be a great Labor Government. I’m so proud to have campaigned for it.
The result in Macnamara remains close. We will have to wait a few more days of counting to see the final result. But we remain cautiously optimistic and hopeful that Macnamara will remain a part of that Labor Government.
I also want to congratulate @stephhodginsmay and @colleenharkin_macnamara and all their volunteers.
And - all being well - I cannot wait to serve in it and to give the people of Macnamara a real voice and a real seat at the table in the Albanese Labor Government.
I want to thank everyone who voted for me, and to everyone who voted for another party - if I have the privilege of continuing to represent you, my door is always open, and I will continue to be a strong voice for you in our partyroom and in Parliament.
Finally, I want to say an incredible thank you to my amazing team - my staff, my volunteers, our local Labor faithful. I’m so proud of what we’ve achieved and we have so much more to achieve.
On my lapel, I wear a pin - representing Chifley’s Light on the Hill. It represents my unwavering faith in the Labor Party’s power to achieve progressive change for our nation.
To Macnamara, and to Australia - a better future awaits us.
There's always time to pat a dog on election day.

Tomorrow we decide who will lead the country.
More of Morrison. Or a Labor Government that will invest in childcare, health care and renewables to grow our economy.
